When it comes to sentencing someone, even to a death penalty, we can't deal the eternity cards, instead, we can deal them a prolongued visual of what hell means, of what not being able to be fully dead means, of what it truly means to not rest in peace, as it is written in the Book of Life.
This may help the bad people tune into the torment of hell, and then tune out of it, landing on a better and more humane path.
Some of us have experienced hell out there in the war zones, while some have experienced it in our schools, churches, parks, streets, homes.
Think about the victims of a mined field, about the ones who lose limbs, because of someone's anger comes in the shape of a weapon that's constantly being used against you and against your friends, think about the victims of rape, the ones that are silent and cannot even scream out or talk to any one in their lives because of fear, fear that it can be used against them, or have themselves being pointed out as the extreme, the fragile, the ones that gone through something so shameful they cannot share with others.
But you know what? Sometimes, the silent ones are the ones that help others through with their ordeal, sometimes they are the minority which exemplifies inspiration and counseling, and are the aid, not a weapon, but an aid to those who seek a friend because something similar has or is about to happen to them.
Do we actually listen to ourselves? Are we actually looking around us for any good people? Do we see them, or are they hidden through the bad crops of our society, so much that we cannot trust anyone anymore?!
It is all about the mind!
If our society is to prevail, if our lives are to be prosperous and fruitful and be able to multiply, if our friends should really amount to be numerous and side with wisdom, stand beside us in councelling, and for us to count on them through trustworthiness, then those bad crops need to get a true visual in their mind of what they really did... of what kind of seed they developed throughout their lives thus far. It is them who should account for the pain and the suffering, the uselessness, the emptiness, the sadistic ways in which they treated someone else, so much that it was called... a crime.
Misdemeanor after misdemeanor, little crimes which later produced bigger crimes, which later came close to producing death, even had produced death in many cases, must be included in the torment of the mind, torment of their emotions, torment of their souls.
Out of this, a better person should emerge, a rose rather than a thorn in our society should be able to come out of this darkness. Death is darkness, and it is an eternal struggle to realize that what they did, caused consequences, not only in the lives of those who they have hurt, even tormented in some cases but in their own lives.
Not letting love in, meant not letting understanding in, dealing, thus, a card to eternal torment made in Hell.
Not letting wisdom in, meant not letting knowledge in, dealing, thus, another card to eternal torment made in Hell.
It is important for a society to not let people arrive to the point of where they would have to be sentenced to a death penalty, but to show them what those cards of loneliness, of emptiness, of pain, of suffering, of feeling useless, of feeling sadistic and, ultimately, feeling guilty really means!!
From the Bible's Book of Revelation 21:8:
"But
cowards, those who refuse to believe, who do evil things, who kill, who
sin sexually, who do evil magic, who worship idols, and who tell lies,
all these will have a place in the lake of burning sulfur. This is the
second death.”
